Nostalgia & History > The CB&Q Sandwich Depot and Trains -- Part 1Date: 11/17/24 19:41 The CB&Q Sandwich Depot and Trains -- Part 1 Author: MartyBernard This is Part 1 of 16 photos of the CB&Q Sandwich, IL depot and some passing trains.
I was the substitute Agent for the vacationing Agent at the CB&Q Sandwich Depot for two weeks in early July 1963. Sandwich is on the double-track main line between Aurora and Galesburg and is much closer to Aurora. Nobody asked for a Ham and Cheese on Rye while I was there. 1. My photo July 3, 1963. Yes that's the nose of my Pontiac at the left. 2, 3 and 4. Roger Puta's photos taken in January 1979. It was a BN Depot by then. Note the repaint of the wooden parts to BN Cascade Green. The depot is long gone by now. Tomorrow we start with pictures of some trains that passed while I was the Agent. Edited 4 time(s). CBQ had some handsome ones.

(And more of it, too. Guess BN green hadn't been invented by 1963.)
