Still in Southern Railway paint, but now working for Norfolk Southern, Hi-nose B23-7 4012 is leading a S/B TOFC train, just south of Van Dorn Street, on the Washington District. 12:15PM on 1-13-90 in Alexandria, VA.
2. A trio of Norfolk Southern SD40-2s (6129, 3219 & 6119) are on the point of an E/B coal train. Here, they're about to pass under the former Seaboard Coast Line (now CSX) mainline overpass. 1:02PM on 1-27-90 at North Collier Yard, Petersburg, VA. 3. Seaboard System B36-7s 5847 & 5882, along with Chessie System GP40-6554, are leading S/B train R-175 as they approach North Collier yard. 3:56PM on 1-27-90 in Petersburg, VA. Date: 12/01/24 16:27 Re: Some Virginia variety, 1990 Author: srman This is by no means official but I never saw a Southern unit on the road past 1990. I saw a few N&W units still lingering around maybe in 1991. Keep in mind all the GP30's, 35's, were off the roster by 1989. This GP38-2 was the last one that I ever photographed in the Louisville Ky. and that was July 1990. There may have been something out there past 1990 but I sure never saw it. I would often back then shoot around Danville Ky. on the CNO&TP and it was all NS from there on.
