Nostalgia & History > Fifty years ago on the ReadingDate: 01/03/25 10:03 Fifty years ago on the Reading Author: King_Coal January 3, 1975 found me trackside near my hometown Reading yard at Abrams, PA.
Reading GP35 3620 leads C430 5211 and C424 5203 on a westbound train passing the Abrams yard office. Not sure of what the origin or destination of this train were. Two B&O hoppers lead a series of what appears to be Pittsburg and Shawmut cars. Westbound on the "Main Line" (Philadelphia to Pottsville) is not the traditional flow of coal. The oil switch lamps in the yard help date the photo. Happy 2025 to all at Trainorders.
