Nostalgia & History > F Unit Friday - WP CZ On SP At Tracy, Calif. Summer 1967Date: 01/10/25 09:59 F Unit Friday - WP CZ On SP At Tracy, Calif. Summer 1967 Author: FiveChime As I recall, Summer of 1967, WP bridge burned near Altamont and CZ had to go over Altamont on SP.
Snap shot from Tracy. Only one thing in this photo still exsists, anyone have any idea? If the WP unit is the one preserved at Portola, then two things. WP 805A is the preserved Zephyr FP7, of which myself and a guy Dwight Whetstone, machinest for the SP at Roseville, spent 100's of hours combined to make her run again. The 567B had many problems, all repaired and with the original block and crank, she now drums softly at idle, and still produces the 1500 HP, in Run 8, thanks to Larry Hanlon with all his electrical work and knowhow to rebuild that and test her electrically, actually showing more than the 1500hp she was designed and built with.
