Sunday mornings one could usually find Charlie Bealer at the desk.

At the far left nearest the tower is the original railing installed in 1927. Then you see a rplacement railing. This replacement railing was installed in the late 1970s when a Conrail train derailed at speed along the platform. One end of a box car came down into parking lot and demolished the (unoccupied) automobile belomging to the tower operator.

Have they been put out of service by the searchlights, or are they going to be swung into service for a distant track at some point?
