Toss Back Tuesday, Hammerhead Style
Author: jgilmore

In the fall of '88, a pair of land sharks (leader running LHF) are lugging a loaded train for Detroit Edison across the flatland south of Oak Harbor, OH, heading for Toledo. With the 45s dying out, these C39s kept the menacing look going for awhile.

3 shot sequence of the same train...

Great photos! The C39-8s were my favorite locomotives from this era of NS.

Nice, were they set up with dual control stands?

No, they had a single control stand on the conductors side set up to run long hood forward. It was almost parallel to the window so you could run either way instead of at an angle like most units.

For those who find the numbers game interesting, this one has 2 units, both units have the same 3 of 4 numbers. Leader is 8566 trailing 8665. Always found this neat.  Ben
