Stan's GP39-2 posts from yesterday (see https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,5980421), reminded me of a memorable encounter with a pair of these units.  Here is CSX Florida Business Unit train O701, the Clearwater Switcher, just after sunrise on January 23, 2004.  The two GP39-2s are working upgrade at the Rosery Road crossing in Largo FL with 40 rock loads for Conrad Yelvington plus their usual dozen or so cars of manifest traffic and making quite a fuss about it.  You'll just have to imagine the sound.
