Nostalgia & History > Three for "Waycar Wednesday."Date: 03/12/25 12:36 Three for "Waycar Wednesday." Author: tehachcond Here's three I shot for "Waycar Wednesday." Two of them could also be used in a "Wagon Wednesday" thread.
1. A three unit helper has cut off the train at Summit, on Cajon Pass and is shoving the caboose up the spur track behind the depot to drop it back to the train. Undated. 2. Two old battlewagons in Cajon helper service pull past the Summit depot. Here, they will cut off. Undated. 3. Swinging over to Tehachapi, we see a GP7 and a GP9 helping to keep things moving on this eastbound. They are exiting Tunnel 5 between Cliff and Bealville. This was before the west switch at Cliff was torn up in a derailment about 1971 and the switch was moved west to about where these units are. I was the conductor on the derailment train. Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome Brian Black Castle Rock, CO, ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 03/12/25 13:30 Re: Three for "Waycar Wednesday." Author: texchief1 Great look back, Brian!

If your referring to that scratch on the photo on the waycar, yup, that's what happened. Brian Date: 03/13/25 08:45 Re: Three for "Waycar Wednesday." Author: 3rdswitch Just saw these, excellent trio.

The moving of the location of the west switch of Cliff had nothing to do with a derailment about 1971 as some readers may conclude here since the extension of the Cliff siding happened around 1975. |
