ATSF M.160 Class Doodlebug question
Author: train1275

These were the Brill built 1931 - 1932 M.160 - M.162 cars.

In reading as much as I can find in my archives about them, and poking about on the internet, I have a question.

As built, did they have Westinghouse or GE electrical equipment ?

In reading McCall's Santa Fe Doodlebug book he references mating the later 6-567B diesel to the GE main generator, but also states as does other ATSF mechanical info that the 6-567B was installed with a mated EMD D-15B main generator which makes sense.

So I am trying to figure out the "as built" ....

The 1928 Brill built M.110 had Westinghouse equipment, but I've seen references to Brill also using GE equipment.

The 148 series EMC motor cars were mostly GE electricals except for M.122 - M.125 and M.150 - M.154 which had Westinghouse for some reason, no idea why .....  After a wreck M.150 was converted to GE.

Anyone have any insights ?

Thanks

Page 97 of McCall’s book says, “all three cars had General Electric main generators and traction motors” when new.
