Ex-NYC Slumbercoach

On the Lake Shore Limited in Cleveland, 2000 was built by Budd in 1949 as a 22 roomette car (Dunkirk Harbor).
Rebuilt in 1961 to a 16 single 10 double slumber coach.

Nice photo as slumbercoaches were also popular on a number of other railroads including the B&O.  But in that photo, there surely needs to be a steam plumber to help with those leaks, sometimes a very rough job to repair.

NYC always referred to the cars, both the ex-Harbor series rebuilds and the new Budd cars, as "Sleepercoaches." 
"Slumbercoah" was the term used on all the other railroads that fielded them, later includig Amtrak.

Under stood that the NYC used "Sleepercoach" rather than "Slumbercoach" because they had gotten out of their Pullman contract ,other than the JWR ,in 1958 ant the "Sleepercoaches" were Pullman operated other than on the Central .
