Rio Grande F for a snowy location, please
Author: santafe199

More of my never-ending quest to attach location info to another one of a bazillion slide scans in my “to-do” folder. The train is too far back to get an engine number, so the closest ETT location will have to do. I’m thinking since photographer Emil Albrecht was a native of Utah this is most likely a Utah location. But we’ll see...

1. A D&RGW F-led train is dwarfed by snowy mountains on April 6, 1968. The location is Spanish Fork, UT*.
Original Ektachrome slide by the late Emil Albrecht, from the late James W. Watson collection.

Thanks for the help, as always!

he was up there probably taking pics of the last runs   which was apr 10 1968  of the Yampa valley mail trains on that day so along it's route  looks like it is near Parshall?  but the road is on the wrong side soo throw out my answer unless it has switched alignments

Looks to me like a westbound train near Spanish Fork, having just exited the Wasatch Mountains.

Thanks Mike. I got a quick look at your link before I left home earlier this afternoon. I think you (& 'chakk') nailed it, but I won’t be able to do anything about it till I get back home later on tonight…

Third! And it sure doesn’t look like that anymore.
