SP 9219 would later go through the SP's Sacramento Locomotive Works GRIP rebuild program. It emerged as SSW 6892 in December 1989 and ended up being the last unit rebuilt there. After that operations in Sacramento wound down and the work was shifted to the former DRGW Burnham Shops in Denver, CO.
