Nostalgia & History > A Little More SD&AE PowerDate: 01/21/04 00:29 A Little More SD&AE Power Author: CimaScrambler The post on SD&AE power from two weeks ago got me to digging through my old negs and scans.
Here is SD&AE #103 at Campo on a rainy afternoon twenty-two years ago - January 1982. At the time, there was a whole train parked in front of the Campo depot, likely awaiting a new crew to take it into San Diego. - Kit - Date: 01/22/04 22:48 Re: A Little More SD&AE Power Author: MyfordBrowning Nice photo of the 103.
In early 1982 I do not think the Mexican government had completed rebuilding the Tiajuna River bridge in the city of the same name. There was no through traffic to San Diego until the bridge was finished as part of a channelization project that took some time. If I am correct, Campo was the SD&AE's base of operation on the east end. They would run a train from Campo to Mexico three days a week and run trains to Plaster City on three other days a week.
