Nostalgia & History > DRGW Caboose 01514 January 1982Date: 03/10/04 12:35 DRGW Caboose 01514 January 1982 Author: cozephyr Before Denver's RTD Southwest Corridor Light Rail system opened on July 14, 2000 the right of way had Joint Line freights. Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad's Pueblo to Denver, CO, freight had cabooses DRGW 01514 and 01524 headed for the Mile High City on January 2, 1982. View is from West Evans Street overpass looking at northbound Joint Line (owned by ATSF at the time) track. The lone unit on this train was SD40T-2 5376. Line to the left was Denver & Rio Grande Western's track used by southbound traffic. In 2004, light rail operates Southwest Corridor double track liine on this alignment.

It's nice to see a vintage 'train' with 'fallen flags', etc. And with women . . sometimes the 'backside' is more interesting as well! ( Just gettin' into this 80 degree weather we're havin' out here! )

Get on at Mineral and ride the C-line past the sports venues to Denver Union Station. You can even go down into the well-lighted pedestrain tunnel under the tracks. That tunnel is like a mini musuem focusing on the passenger trains that went through Denver.
