I started scanning some of my black & white shots taken mostly in the mid to late '80s. Here's a few of the SP, most shot in Southern Calif. The first shot is of a westbound stack train at dusk on the La Habra Sub heading toward Valla in Santa Fe Springs. Before there was the ICTF, the SP ramped their stack trains at the cramped yard at Valla. The long stack trains played heck with the road crossings on both the west and east side of the yard.

This second shot is of one of the haulers that passed through Los Nietos every day. This one has just crossed the AT&SF main tracks at DT Junction and is headed north (railroad east) where it will join the UP main at Bartolo Junction. The train had a little bit of everything as power, including a GP40P-2 as the lead unit.

This is a shot of a stack train leaving Valla on the La Habra branch. It has already gotten clearance to cross the AT&SF tracks at DT Junction and will soon be heading north. All five units where belching smoke as it left.

This is a shot of the westbound CHOAT passing the station at Colfax.

The last shot for tonight is of the Sacramento Locomotive Works. On this particular day there was an abundance of 6-axle power parked, with a number in the merger paint.
