New Nostalgia - Levin's PRR E-8's in Philly.

Time for an E-8 break.

Could use a reminder on the date - a strangely rare shot of the E's in Philly.
This was a year or two back.

This seems to be the consist they had for the American Shortline and Regional Railroad Assocation Annual Meeting in 2003. They ran out to Valley Forge and back.

I can narrow it down to one weekend in 2002.

The train is the "Rockville Limited", operated by the Harrisburg Chapter NRHS on April 13th and 14th, 2002 for the 100th anniversary of the Rockville Bridge located just north of Harrisburg, PA.

The location is on the Amtrak NEC near Milepost 90 which is just south of 30th St. Station. Note the sign in the background for Amtrak on the Schuylkill Expressway and the Locust Point building which is on the opposite bank (east side) of the Schuylkill River from the station.

The PVs trailing the southbound Es are the Kitchi Gammi Club (Pullman, 1923, Observation, General Service "Mountain View") and the Greenwich Harbor (Budd, 1952, Parlor, PRR "Roger Williams". Amfleet cars followed with the unrestored, and yet to be named, Warrior Ridge (Budd, 1950, Lounge, SP French Quarter) and PRR 120 (always) bringing up the markers.

The consist did two trips, originating in Harrisburg and going; Philly, Perryville, Columbia, Enola, Rockville and Harrisburg with a deadhead back to Philly on Sunday evening.

I was the supervisor of volunteers and this was the Harrisburg Chapter's first-ever excursion hosted entirely by its own staff.

The Harrisburg Chapter will reprise this trip on October, 30th 2004 as "The Susquehanna Limited".
