Wabash-UP "City of St. Louis"
Author: jmw

This 1946 Wabash ad highlights the service offered by the "City of St. Louis" between the train's namesake and the Pacific coast.

The locomotive illustrated in the ad shows the Wabash flag displayed along with the UP shield on its nose. Did any UP passenger locomotive ever sport a Wabash logo as depicted in the advertisement or is this just poetic license?

I know some of the “City” trains had SP-UP-CNW logos displayed on the locomotives used on those trains.

I'm not entirely sure about motive power ever having joint logos with the Wabash; however, equaly as interesting was the Wabash owned passenger equipment that was painted in UP yellow. I have seen a couple photos varying on the lettering style from Standard UP font red Scotchlite to an almost railroad roman red lettering "Wabash."
