SD&AE El Cajon Local (1970)
Author: the_expediter

In winter of 1970, the world famous "City of El Cajon" highballs over Grossmont Summit at a neck breaking speed of 15mph! The "Four Aces" is leading the way. This location is about 15 miles ne of downtown San Diego... Cheers from Steve

Does light rail go along this route now?

Same location is now double track 115lb rail with trolley wire overhead and light rail trains every 15 min. Freight train speed zone is now 40 MPH, and the trolleys probably run at 50 or so. There's still freight service at O-dark-thirty in the AM.

is this shot taken close to the graveyard split by the trolley ROW today? Also, wasn't a section of the doubletrack narrowed down to overlapping track at some point on this line? Always thought that this was a little dangerous - did they ever redo this section of track to full normal width double track?
