And is this the freight office, off in the distance, refered to in Tony's first post?
Seems out of place for a railroad freight office though. Looks like it is/was of stucco in a world of wood common standard (c.s.)construction.

I'll let Tony speak for himself but the "stucco building " in this pic and others posted today of the turntable, was not a functioning RR building at that time to my recollection. A building sometimes referred to as the freight office , now housing the local museum and named by them the "Donohue Depot" in deference to the builder of NWP's predecessor there is the board&batten style wood structure visible at waters edge in cewherry's 15:08 b&w pic of "1000 & Idlers", beyond the 'train".
There was some kind of NWP office closer to town apparently , site marked by preserved palm tree today, between artificial lake and waterfront park.

You're probably correct. I don't remember the building as a railroad office of any kind when the railroad was there. The construction is so far different from your normal SP company buildings that I have trouble accepting it. Years ago it was told to me it was the NWP freight offcie - probably because it is now a museum. I suppose we could answer this with a good railroad plat. - Tony J.

You are right. The first photo of the engine and idlers, the freight office is the one on the right. I got a railway guide from a guy out of there in the 50s.

The stuco house looks like it was moved in from somewhere. All I remember behind the roundhouse was parking and beyond that a street that had a small store on it.

Thats where I purchased bait when I would go out on the ferry slip and fish. Never ate anything I caught, garbage fish, smelt, perch and nasty dog fish that had poison barbs on their sides next to their gils. Slim would unlock the gate and let me go out to the end and then after the next barge showed up, he would let me back out.

The only thing out there was a few bars down a side street that ran next to the water. I think one's name was "Sam's".
