One month old SP SD-38-2's......before getting "slugged

Virtually brand new (delivered in May, 1973) SD-38-2's 2972 and (class engine) 2971, cool their wheels in "Old" Colton Yard, in June 1973.

By the end of that July, the units would be mated with former (six-axle) Alco "Century" series units, that had been converted into "slugs"......

Great shot, Bob. I loved to hear those 2900's come out of the bowl past the ad. building. Now, they use almost anything that can still move under it's own power!

have accumulated in the last 30+ years....
