Nostalgia & History > When SP's dash 9's were newDate: 01/12/05 18:38 When SP's dash 9's were new Author: photobob Heres 8116 & 8115 leading an eastbound near Black Butte. The mountain above the train is Mt Eddy which plays second fiddle to Mt Shasta as it is only about 9,000 feet high. Its hard to believe how good those units looked when fresh from the factory.

I remember a friend and I hunting them on Tehachapi,,finding 8147,DRGW 5502(Cleaned for the occasion)and 8145 at Bakersfield yard. I later in the day returned to the "Loop" and got to see them working and taking a picture that almost matched one that ended up in an SP book To this day they are my favorite locomotives to tape as they have really interesting Whoops and sounds Have a good day Phil/Ct97 Date: 01/13/05 07:12 Re: When SP's dash 9's were new Author: Amtkrd4man I should know better than to log on here read stuff with out some coffe.
