Amtrak's train No 16 was the eastward Houston-Chicago Texas Chief/Lone Star, discontinued in 1979. Bob

The Amtrak trains were Daily 1 & 2 CHI-DEN Triweekly 101 & 102 DEN-OAK D&RGW Triweekly 17 & 18 DEN-OGD Date: 02/04/05 21:13 Re: San Fransisco Zephyr #16 Author: DanV The Lone Star # 16, had a nice dinner on that train in the "High Liner" diner one evening. As I remember it stopped in Kansas City in the early morming and exchanged passengers with the "Southwest Limited".
Dinner was announced not by someone from the diner walking through yelling "First Call... First Call.", but rather some one from the dinner walking through playing the chimes. |
