Nostalgia & History > OS extra 3110 north at AustinDate: 04/18/05 16:27 OS extra 3110 north at Austin Author: xtra1188w If you couldn't have mainline steam anymore, back in the early to mid 1970's, I enjoyed going to the MoP Austin depot and listening to a fellow who became a close friend, and at the time he was a very serious and professional 2nd trick op on the MoP. I liked listening to him "OS" a train as it passed his station. SD40-2's in Austin or 2-8-8-2's on TP, when the local operator talked into the d/s phone the reports they made were strikingly similar to each other. Now and then, I'd step outside to take a picture or two of the train as it passed "MoP Austin".
This old friend is now a dispatcher in Omahaha, he has been dispatching for either the MoP or the UP since 1977. I'm not sure what territory he has today, nor what his shift or number is, but his initials are W.H.H. Do any of y'all that drive for Uncle Peter recognize these initials? Con |
