Photobob's image of West Oakland only reminded me of how I missed one of the most interesting era's of SP's history (photographically speaking). However, digging into my own archives yielded this photo of West Oakland 29 years ago.

In the foreground is SW8 1124 (equipped with dynamic brakes!), UP 3173, which in 1976 was a cool thing to see, and behind 1127, a string of FP7As and F7Bs ready for assignment to the San Joaquin, still wearing SP grey and scarlet but sporting new Amtrak numbers.

Looks like power for the Reno "Fun Train."
