Remains of Kinzua (PA) Viaduct to be Preserved
Author: dsktc

From today's Pittsburgh Post Gazette:

"MOUNT JEWETT, Pa. -- The Kinzua Viaduct, once the longest and tallest railroad bridge in the world, hasn't been much of a tourist attraction since it was mangled by a tornado in July 2003.

"But officials say $1 million in state funds released yesterday to rehabilitate Kinzua Bridge State Park is the first step in preserving the bridge's ruins."

From today's PG:

"Gov. Ed Rendell did release $700,000 in state funds yesterday as a
down payment on $7 million in restoration work set for the Kinzua
Bridge in a state park in McKean County."

The author of the story later correctly uses
stabilize [the remaining bridge piers] ilo restore.
