The articulated Buses would park straight like this so the Operators would not have to back them up. These units appear to have the engine and drive axle in the trailer, which then pushes that front. Why is it configured this way and what is the advantages and disadvantages over having the engine in the front portion? Date: 06/15/05 11:07 Re: Current articulated buses Author: CT97 I`m going to just guess but I think ease of maintenance is an issue, plus the engines are usually the same as their 40 foot counterparts.
There are stories (I never got to drive a M.A.N AM General Artic hired in too late) that the M A N Configuration was disliked due to a few factors. The trailers would have a tendency to swing, plus the pancake style engine was hard to maintain, plus they went through brakes like candy. Here is a picture of MTAs newest articulated designed by N A B I. I`ve been trained on it and the bus is suprisingly easy to drive. Backing will be another story. Hopefully someone else can shed light on the Tractor Pusher Differences. Phil/Ct97 Date: 06/15/05 11:18 Re: Current articulated buses Author: jst3751 CT97 Wrote:

Now even busses are going to the bubble look. Any change that would run on a Metro Local line like 484 or 684? |
