a Santa Fe Super C day that is. In Dec '75, a typical lashup of 4 SD45-2's lead the eastbound Super C into Summit, CA. During this period one of the 5 SD45-2's that Santa Fe painted red/white/blue to celebrate the nations BiCentennial regularly led the Super.

Great shot--brings back great memories.

One thing to note is that this train is using the north track. The Super-C often used the steeper, shorter south track.

CLASS. Santa Fe had it. Nuff said. I only saw one bicentennial unit that I can recall- N & W 1776, and I left the camera in mom's car! The colorful SD45 was leading coal "emtys" at Circleville, OH in the summer of '77 or '78.
