Alco triple header
Author: cs16

Ventura County Railway Alco S6's put on a show pulling 35 auto-racks into the yard at Oxnard in the summer of 1985. I was working there at the time and this was the 1 and only time we ran a triple header. The second unit, ex SP1277 was an MU unit but not the 7 and 9. Shortly after the 1277 was painted and became #11, we added MU capabilities to the other two. Now, the 9 operates in its as delivered tiger stripe paint and number, the 1059 at Fillmore and Western RR. Putting it back into it's original paint was my last big claim to fame at the F&W before going back on the mainline. 20 years of shortlines was enough.

Great photo and story. Any more photo's from the VCY. I grew up along the line in the 90's remember seeing the ALCo's and the GP7 and the take over by RailAmerica.
