At the time that this picture was taken, this pair of GP38's had been MKT units #329 and 331 until very recently. They had been purchased from the ICG by the Katy, but not repainted before they were again sold to Railtex, the shortline operator of the Austin and North Western, which until recently at that time, had been the SP's Llano Branch in Austin Texas. Here they are idling away a sunday afternoon in April 1987 at the former SP diesel loco servicing tracks that were next to East 4th Street near Comal Street.
