"EBMES" at the WP Depot...
Author: KeyRouteKen

In this rare 1938 photo, we see a portion of the O-scale layout of the famous "Eastbay Model Engineers Society" (EBMES) located in the Baggage Room of the Western Pacific Depot at 3rd & Washington Sts in Oakland, CA.

This was about TWO years before the club moved into their large building on Halleck Street in Emeryville, where they finally stayed for 44-years.

Wow. Check-out the two rail as opposed to the Lionel 3 Rail. Obviously, true prototypers at work.

My dad wanted to take me to see a layout in a train station in Oakland, Ca. Now, I am wondering if this is the same layout. I never did get to see it. The same goes for John Allen's layout. I had an invitation from John, but my dad couldn't find the time or pocket change to make the trip.

Thanks KRK for sharing this picture. Looks like a lot of work went into building it.
