Here's another shot, going sb on the Rio Grande main thru N. Salt Lake. I have OME written on my slide cube, but don't know if that's correct symbol for this train...Maybe Rob L can help out, or one of you other UP 70's guys...thanks in advance, Steve

Were these engines originally numbered 90-94? I recall an e/b Zephyr trip to Chicago around 1976 where a UP #94 was added to the head end. Thought it was a "new" GP40X. Thanks.

They where delivered as 9000-9005, then renumbered to 90-95, then again renumbered 954-959.

Those UP GP40X's had some sort of experimental trucks. I never saw them on any other type of EMD unit. Do any of you know anything about these trucks? Why did they not get more use?

these trucks arn't readily exchangeable with other units someone posted recently, if you wanna search. One was just rebuilt at silvis or something.

Seems like I remember some of the old crew guys saying they rode rough, and had tracking problems.

The trucks were HT-Bs; SP's four GP40Xs (SP 7200-7201, 7230-7231) had them too.

OME was the Overland Mail East off the old WP that ran to North Platte so that wouldn't be it.
