In 2001 one could still find Denver & Rio Grande Western RR tunnel motors, model SD40T-2, working the Moffat line. DRGW 5385 and another tunnel motor led the North Yard, Denver, CO, to Roper Yard, Salt Lake City, UT, train M DVRO 11, up the Front Range on March 11, 2001. It was about to cross Blue Mountain Drive in Coal Creek Canyon. The hogger was rather pleased with his "old perch." Desktop consoles and GE's soon pushed these into retirement.
