Canadian Railroads > CN SD45WDate: 08/28/12 18:16 CN SD45W Author: thb403 Well, not really, but at least we know what one would have looked like..... SD40-2W 5258 & 5261 have been rebuilt & modified to burn natural gas, and were headed west on CN train 107 on Sunday Aug. 26, shown here at Sparrow Lake, ON.

What's the story with the vents on the first container? Looks like a power gen erator being transported or maybe a generator set for cars on the train? Date: 08/29/12 09:14 Re: CN SD45W Author: BN_FAN These are (or will be) dual-fuel units and seen here operating as conventional diesels. For LNG operation, CN has purchased UP's two fuel tenders which had been stored at EMD LaGrange for 15+ years.
It appears CN will be testing two units each with high and low pressure injection: http://www.idstransportation.com/news/rails-taking-another-look-at-natural-gas-engines Date: 08/29/12 09:57 Re: CN SD45W Author: DundasMP23 I was hoping you'd post photos! Very cool. Thanks Dave.

They had more room, wonder why they didn't use it? Best regards, Rob L. Date: 08/29/12 19:03 Re: CN SD45W Author: zartok-35 TCnR Wrote:

These units look very nice. Did they modify the horsepower or anything? |
