I am not sure about any traffic to Courtenay. Of course, the VIA runs remain cancelled. But the money needed to make repairs is slowly coming together. I've always thought the E&N and D&A where twin bookends at the outer limits of CP's railway empire - isolated, light density subsidiaries hosting rural RDC runs. Vancouver Island's Malahat RDC outlived NS's Evangeline due to a quirk in the BC Confederation agreement, as well the slightly better health of it's railroad - minimal freight traffic vs. none at all. Here's hoping the Malahat rises again! Dave |
