When Conventional Trains Replaced A Railiner

Back in the seventies....occasionally you would arrive at the station only to find your usual “Railiner” replaced by a conventional train. Either the RDC had broken down or was being towed behind coaches to add additional capacity.

Its late afternoon at Moncton and the Scotian has arrived from Montreal on Track 2. The connecting Railiner to Edmundston is on Track 1 and directly behind it....a conventional consist has replaced the Railiner for Saint John.

At Truro in December 1971 old heavyweight Section Sleepers are even filling in as Coaches on the train from Sydney.

Got to get that slide case out....scan a few more and dream of the passenger trains we once had. (Only three round-trips a week now on the Ocean!)

Outstanding stuff. Was that big barn at Truro "modernized" into the present day shopping center
or was it razed?
