VERY interesting looking locomotive! Would have thought the class unit or at least the very first of the series would have had a few extra bits such as white painted rims on the wheels for the builder's view. Maybe close the side window? Some other questions... any air conditioning? Yes these are local power however the way summer has been becoming hotter and hotter a cool crew is a happier crew. And location of radio antenna? And of the scrapped motive power, what was rebuilt and used in the construction of these darlings? The trucks were overhauled and reused, and the old traction motors provided cores for the remanufactured traction motors used on these locomotives. Who would have guessed 10-15 years ago that EMD would offer such a program today. If the customer didnt have a core to rebuild doesn't EMD offer this as a completely new unit as well?

Is the platform (frame) resued? daniel Date: 12/02/12 10:06 Re: CP GP-20Eco First one out folks Author: CCMF Pretty big stretch to call these rebuilds. They have new frames and in my world that makes them new units. Muncie is probably crawling with them right now and delivery of the first ones should be any day.

These are most likely like NS's new Admiral Cab SD40-2's where the air conditioning unit is under the cab floor. If there are louvers on the equipment door below the cab on the other side of the locomotive then, yes they probably have AC on them.
