Canadian Railroads > CN's Lulu Island TrampDate: 03/31/13 11:24 CN's Lulu Island Tramp Author: loleta Last week I posted some photos of CP's Marpole Spur, which runs along the north shore of the Fraser River. On the south side, on Lulu Island, CN moves more cars in a day than CP does in two months. Here is the afternoon Lulu Island Tramp crossing the Fraser River en route back to Thornton Yard.

Six units on the head end. How much traffic was behind them? Date: 03/31/13 15:43 Re: CN's Lulu Island Tramp Author: MMD Is that out in New Westminster ???? Pacific Coast Terminals use to have an USRA 0-6-0 switching their terminal back in 1960 - 61.

Likely a power transfer with the pair of 38s and geeps which perform local switching on the two branches and many spurs along the network. Trains are typically long with 80+ cars which I have sat at grade crossing waiting for during the middle of rush hour. The south portion of the line on Lulu Island is new which services a large new port which construction started on in thelate 90s. This area is impressive with new modern freight houses which take dozens of boxcars. Traffic will only get heavier in the near future as more are being built at this time. Thanks for the info. 80 cars is a decent haul. Date: 04/02/13 08:23 Re: CN's Lulu Island Tramp Author: loleta That's right. The tramp arrived with the two SD60s at the small yard at mile 7, waited for the four switch engines to return, and then brought them along with about 30 cars back to Thornton Yard. My guess is that the next day's tramp would bring new switch engines out to Lulu Island.
