Track Evaluation Train on the Squamish Sub.

CN's TEST cars made their annual Spring visit to the Squamish Sub. today, behind GTW SD40-2 5934.
1. Running as Train 495, the test train met train 546 at the north end of Brunswick siding.
2. The test train then returned to the south end of Brunswick to test the short section of mainline it had missed when taking the siding. Upon arrival in Squamish, the train will swap out GTW 5934 for a locomotive equipped with dynamic brakes.

Nice catch(s)!

First shot, I had to double check what forum I was in - looked
like a really well done HO scale diorama.

Nice to see Grand Trunk on the former BC Rail.

Today marks the 100th Anniversary of the first Grand Trunk Pacific train to arrive at Prince Rupert BC.

As planned by GTP President Rivers-Wilson, what is now BC rail would have been the Grand Trunk Pacific, except that the GTP would have gone straight south from Clinton BC, along Harrison Lake and joined the Fraser valley near Agassiz, then west to Vancouver.

When Charles Hays replaced Rivers-Wilson as President of the Grand Trunk, he changed the western terminus of the GTP to Prince Rupert BC.

When was the silhouette of North America behind the "CN" lettering added? I have seen it before a couple times, and I wonder why it's sometimes there and sometimes not. I assumed that it was an old paint addition that got discontinued, but that SD40 looks pretty recently painted.

It was used for a couple of years and then discontinued when the CN wanted save money and use a simpler paint scheme.

Great shots, and congrats on a well-deserved IOTD! Your work does not get enough praise and recognition as it should.

Nice work on that first shot! I really like that you were able to keep the word "test" from the boxcar in the shot.
