The photos show a CM&Q through freight waiting at Farnham, QC to depart west for the CPR interchange on July 29, 2014. I can't say that I find a GP20D to be attractive mainline power. But from the crew's viewpoint it must beat an aged GE Dash-7.

Big air conditioned cab with good visability, whats not to like?

Does CMQ go into St. Luc or does CP bring the train out to them? Both times last weekend when I passed under this line on A-15 near Delson a train was standing on the overpass. (The Mapquest satellite photo of this overpass is interesting . . . it shows the old bridge and alignment still standing, along with the new bridge just north of it.)

MMA went into St Luc. CMQ does not. For the moment CP drags the CMQ cars to Iberville and hands them over there. CMQ is not allowed across the bridge to St Jean and therefore cannot interchange there with CN. The CMQ/CN interchange is now at Sherbrooke only via Richmond and the St Lawrence & Atlantic.

Interesting that the new company couldn't acquire the same interchange deal as MMA had . . . now they have to short-haul themselves on CN traffic? Sounds like EHH at work. Delson is quite a ways from Iberville; now it seems odd that two trains were sitting there on two different days.

Does it get the job done? If it does, appearance doesn't matter. If it doesn't, then appearance still doesn't matter.

If the appearance of mechanical objects doesn't count, we'd all be driving Pontiac Azteks.
