It's coming, and not just to Alberta
Author: crs1026

This week's weather in Alberta just proves how polite Ontarians are....all week we've been saying to Albertans "No, you first...."

Ontario's turn will come soon enough.

Here are some shots from a memorable weekend in January 1971, when a northbound van hop powered by CP 8445 got stuck on the way to Orangeville ON. This prompted a plow extra to be called as a rescue train. The RS-3 was well and truly stuck, the rescue move bogged down, and it took a lot of shovelling before the pair could be freed. They backed south to Brampton, traded places so the plow was on the head end, and forged their way north.
By the time they returned to the the scene of the stoppage, we had retreated safely to the nearest level crossing. The plow consist blasted by us...the sound of the remarshalled plow extra hitting the cut that halted the 8445's first attempt is still ringing in my ears....."Whump!"

Hey let's not rush those winter shots just yet . . . .:)

I am typing this from the west coast of Canada where for once in September it is the WEST rather than the WET coast . . . gorgeous weather in the high teens - low twenties (that's Celsius for those of you south of the border) . . and cool at night . . can't beat it . . . that said . . nice trio of shots!
