Canadian Railroads > MLW's with white "Extra" flags, 1972Date: 10/27/14 09:17 MLW's with white "Extra" flags, 1972 Author: eminence_grise MLW C424's leading CP and CN freights in the Montreal Terminals in January 1972.
In those days, most of the main lines around Montreal were ABS/timetable and trainorder controlled. With freight traffic on the increase, CP was leasing extra motive power, note the ex-QNS&L GP9 and the Precision National GP9 trailing the CP C424. The CN westbound freight is at Dorval QC, and a brand new GMDD SD40 is trailing the C424. By the way, I was likely standing next to TO posters "Lerchy" and "KGMontreal" and inadequately dressed for Montreal winters (still a fairly recent immigrant from the UK) Edited 1 time(s).
