Lazy Summer Evening, 1976
Author: Ray_Murphy

On August 11, 1976, when I detrained from my commute home from Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue at CP's Westmount station in Montreal, I found the afternoon light was good and the Glen yard switcher active, so I hung around for a while with my camera. These pictures are in the order I took them.

1, 2: CP's Track Recording Car 63 was being moved to a cut of cars that would be picked up later and brought to St-Luc by another job.

3. The switcher, S-3 6524, was regularly assigned at the Glen yard.

4. Another shot of 6524.

5, 6. Some other locomotives there that day: FP7 4070, FP9 1405 and S-2 7082, still in the maroon and grey paint scheme.

7. A view of some of the yard buildings. The shed in the centre of the picture housed some fire fighting equipment.

8. On the way home, at the corner of Decarie and de Maisonneuve in NDG, I caught Train #42, the Atlantic Limited, led by its usual power, one of CP's two E8As (1802 on this day).

Nice photos. I have always loved the look of those NSC smooth sided passenger cars. I would love to see them done in plastic for the HO modellers among us..

My favorite Glen engine was the 7041 with its one Blunt truck and one AAR truck.
