Three SD40-2 led CP trains in 24 hours
Author: Mberry

I don't shoot CP that often, as they run fewer trains in Montreal than CN. When I do shoot CP, the trains tend to have GE products for power. I was lucky to shoot three CP trains today and yesterday with all EMD lashups with SD40-2 leaders.

In the first shot we see a very short CP 253 from Binghamton, NY with CP 6066 & CP 6018 as it heads through Montreal West towards nearby St-Luc Yard.

Next a pair of SD40-2's (CP 5949 & CP 5773) blast west through Beaconsfield this morning with CP 241 which has 456 axles. At right is the truck of a CP foreman who had to manually key the Woodland avenue crossing. Further to the right is the CN Kingston sub.

Finally we see four EMD products on CP 143 (CP 6045, CP 5612, CP 6066 & ex-SOO Line CP 6260) as it is stopped at Dorval this afternoon, awaiting its signal.
