Canadian Railroads > Memories - 1974/1980Date: 05/18/15 08:03 Memories - 1974/1980 Author: refarkas Thankfully I have been blessed with many great memories from Canadian vacations in the 1970's and 1980's. Here are three images from these trips.
Image one: CP 8721 rests outside the diesel shop in Nelson, British Columbia on 08/01/1974. On the hill is Peebles Motor Inn where I had a room. I could walk out on my balcony and observe action at the diesel facility and in the yard. Image two: CP 8004 sits in the engine facility at Nanaimo, British Columbia. Image three: Here is a shot around the CN Spadina Yard engine facility turntable in Toronto, Ontario on 06/19/1980. Earlier CN 6060 was being broken in for a run on the weekend. She was running a few hundred feet back and forth, and fellow railfan Paul Woodring and I were both given a cab ride. That certainly was the highlight of the trip! Bob Edited 1 time(s). Not to mention that CP is ripping out the yard in Cranbrook, if I understand correctly.

And as the photo shows, there was usually a wide variety of equipment, EMD and MLW, passenger and freight units, and on occasion steam Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/18/15 23:43 by WP17. |
