CP 253 crossing the St-Lawrence river
Author: Mberry

On an abnormally cold spring morning (about 5 degrees celsius), I was waiting for CP 253 on the north shore of the St-Lawrence river in Lasalle, Qc. After a wait of 20 minutes or so, I saw a short CP 253 inbound from Binghamton with CP 8515, CP 9604 & CP 8920 as power. The second shot really shows how much more red the third and newest unit is compared to the two older AC4400CW's ahead.

I wouldn't have thought the 3rd unit is so much red as the first two units are dirt in colour.

Nice photo and surprised you guys are still getting some low temps.

I never did like that candy apple red.  Glad they switched back to the original red.  Nice bridge shots!

The CP's St.Lawrence bridge is a classic structure.  Amazingly, the spans from a previous bridge using the same piers and abutments are still in existence.  When the North Saskatchewan was dammed in the 1950's, CP had to construct a high bridge over Lake Diefenbaker. The old St.Lawrence bridge spans were reused near Outlook SK.

The third unit is far from the original action red.  It's somewhere in between methinks.
