Canadian Railroads > Where did the SKNX/CN Saskatchewan cars go?

Kylie is an avid freight car and other rail equipment photographer, she has 2800 CN freight car photos all taken in the last two years. She notes of the 450 grain service cars she has taken photos of that there are no SKNX/CN grain cars noted as operating in B.C. for over a year now or she would have taken photos of them. The attached photo is two years ago in Blue River. We have seen a lot of CN grain or grain/mixed trains and the presence of the Saskatchewan cars is missing completely. These cars were to be restencilled as CN 397000-397476 (Same SKNX numbers)

Of note on grain cars CN is restencilling former CPWX 605XXX series cars with CN reporting marks as I write this, a few we spotted by Kylie on Sunday in Blue River and Jasper.

I believe some of the SKNX cars have been repainted into the green Saskatchewan scheme and are being used on the Last Mountain Railway/Mobil Grain short line in Saskatchewan.   I see them around the Aylesbury, Craik area on the old CN Craik Sub.  Fredstoltz

Thank you BArailsystem, Kylie went though the reports and it looks like the Saskatchewan Grain Car Corporation started leasing the SKNX cars to Last Mountain Railway in 2010/2011 and by 2013/2014 all remaining 415 SKNX cars were leased to LMR.

The SKNX hoppers are seen quite commonly in Montreal during the winter, often repainted as here. This one is on CN 310, stopped for a crew change at Turcot West this past December.
