A trio, all built in Kingston
Author: Mberry

Hopefully it's not considered blasphemy to feature three CLC products on MLW Monday, so here goes nothing.... From yesterday, three products of the CLC (Canadian Locomotive Company) works in Kingston, Ontario are on display at Exporail. Left to right are 2-10-2 CN 4100 (built 1924), H24-66 Train Master CP 8905 (built 1956) and pioneer diesel switcher CN 77 (built 1929). The second shot features CN 77 more prominently.

At one time the 4100s were the biggest engines in the British Empire. I am told when the new platforms at Union Station in Toronto were constructed, a 4100 was used to check the clearances. If that engine could pass through, any engine could pass through!

I don't believe Fairbanks-Morse had any ownershipf of CLC, but CLC had a license to build Fairbanks-Morse diesels, yes.
