Narrow gauge CN 805
Author: Mberry

CN 805 is a narrow gauge export model (GMD G8) built in 1956 for CN's lines in Newfoundland. It is not in the best shape and is leaning heavily. Shot at Exporail this past Sunday in St-Constant, Qc.

Better days on the Bonavista Branch in June 1981.

Newfoundland Railways; always interesting!  In the two shots of CN 805 it is clearly evident that the center axles are lower and the wheel diameter less than the two outboard axles. It's almost like the center axle is getting out of the way of the traction motors. Maybe that was the design?

Hi Michael. I think they should try putting it inside, just as it is, albeit a tad shabby. Despite the little rust you can still see the patina of wear from its last days, even the original green showing through. That's a personal preference, and I am in no position of influence.
