Any good places for Crêpes near the Mascouche Line in Montréal?
Author: tq-07fan

I will be in Montréal Thursday afternoon, leaving Friday morning. I want to ride the new Mascouche line to where the switch from electric to diesel happens then ride the buses back to the Deux-Montagnes line to go back to centre city Montreal. Not wanting to spend too much time out but also wanting to make the trip useful are there any places with good Crêpes near the Ahuntisic or Saint-Michel–Montréal-Nord stations on the Mascouche line or near Montpellier station on the Deux-Montagnes line?

Unless a change has been made since I was last there, the switch from electric to diesel takes place while the train is stopped in Mount Royal station which serves both the Mascouche and Deux Montagnes lines.  In fact, the transition from one mode to another is thoroughly unremarkable.  The wire at Mount Royal is very low so the locomotive's pantograph is barely visible.  The train comes to a stop and as the passengers get off, the diesels start up, the pantograph comes down and the train pulls out of the station.  There's no fanfare.

At Montpellier (formerly Vertu) the duck-under where the electrics pass under the freight line is worth a look.  But beware of the AMT's security goons.  These thugs made photography of AMT trains difficult.  Thanks to the efforts of Michael Berry the goons have toned down their approach to railfans.  Photography is now permitted as long as one has a valid train ticket.

The Deux Montagnes line trains are extrememly crowded at rush hour.  Avoid peak periods.

Photos of the changeover from electric to diesel-electric mode at Mont-Royal station can be seen here. Thanks for the credit Ken, hopefully this is not a short term thing.

OK. I didn't even think of Mount Royal being the changeover point but that makes sense.

Thank You

Jim
