Canadian edition of CP's Holiday Train making its first stop
Author: Mberry

The Canadian edition of the CP Holiday Train made its first stop of the year at Montreal West this evening and the crowds and traffic were out of this world. Unfortunately this year they staged the train with the head end west of the Westminster Avenue level crossing, whereas last year it stopped just east of it, making photos easier. Nonetheless I managed to get shots out of it.

1-Crowds of people line the crossing as the train stops.

2-The tail end of the  is stopped in front of the venerable Montreal West station. Bringing up the rear is the heavyweight car Van Horne, built by CP in 1927.

3-The head end of the Canadian edition of the CP Holiday Train is stopped is stopped just past the Westminter crossing as the train makes its first stop of the year before continuing west towards its next stop at Beaconsfield. Power this year is CP 2323.

I guess CP never kept much of any post-war streamlined equipment for Biz train use, or bought any of VIA Rail's ex-CN CC&F castoffs.
How long can their heavyweight relics last ? Maybe CP eats NS, that'll solved that issue.
Must drive EHH nuts.

CP's business car fleet is a fantastic collection of classic heavyweights.  Mr. EHH has actually added to the fleet.  Fact checking perhaps?

Buy A Canadian Trackside Guide this may help you.
